Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Mitchells of Mansfield Ltd, is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the
past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions.
Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be
measured.

Baseline year: 2020

Additional details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations: Currently our base line only allows for Scope one and Scope two. We are working with Carbon Footprint.com in 2021 to attempt to calculate Scope three emissions but this may take some time.

Emissions Reduction Target

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon
reduction targets.

  1. We replaced our Diesel Forklift fleet with Electric Fork Lifts.
  2. Our intention is providing supply and demand are met to electrify our vehicle fleet by
    2035.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 3,466,795 tCO2e
by 2026. This is a reduction of 27.25%.

Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or
implemented since the 2020 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these
schemes equate to 10,000 tCO2e, a 0.2 % reduction against the 2020 baseline and the
measures will be in effect when performing the contract

• We have introduced LED/PIR lighting throughout our build and yard.
• We have replaced Diesel handling equipment with electric
• We have invested in the latest reduced emission Diesel engine vehicles.

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

• Our intention is to replace electrify our fleet over the next 15 years, thus reducing our
Scope 1 emissions but this will increase our Scope 2 emissions.
• We will look further into our supply chain and scope 3 emissions to see how we start
to reduce this footprint.
• We will be working alongside ‘Carbon Footprint.com’ on further measurement and
reduction processes and the entire business will be carbon certified.
